Radio Margaret River (RMR), the new local internet community radio station, has selected a new Station Manager to head up the rapidly expanding organisation.

James Burke has an extensive corporate career and brings a wealth of experience in media sales, advertising and business management. In over 30 years in the media industry, he has held senior roles in corporations including Seven West Media (Perth and Sydney), 10 Network, Southern Cross Austereo and Marketforce. In addition, James also ran his own multiple award-winning advertising business, ergo media.

James is looking forward to his new role with the community focused station.

“Over the last few years I’ve been fortunate enough to work in some amazing media organisations, but I’m really looking forward to spending time at RMR and working closely with such a welcoming and creative group of people,” he said.

Pip Mattiske now Program Director

After growing the station from humble beginnings to its current loyal audience of over 10,000 listeners, Pip Mattiske has stepped aside from the role of Station Manager and will return as Program Director after a short break. With a stable of talented presenters already at the turntables and a growing team of producers behind the scenes, Pip has an exciting role ahead.

“We’re so lucky to have so many talented people in the region who are keen to be involved with the station. There’s no doubt it’s going to be busy, but I’m very excited about the new shows we have on the horizon, and extremely proud of the ones that are already on the air,” said Pip.

Studio 2

RMR can also announce the completion of a second studio thanks to a Lotterywest grant. With the first studio busy with live shows, ‘Studio 2’ will be dedicated to training future radio stars. New training programs are in development so community members are welcome to contact the station if they are keen to be involved.
