Position Vacant: RMR Station Manager

• Casual contract
• $600 per week
• Flexible hours, (approx 15 hours a week) work from home and on-site when required

RMR – Radio Margaret River is the first internet radio station in the South-West. It aims to serve the community, keeping locals informed and entertained.

RMR is a not-for profit incorporation. It does not hold a community broadcasting licence but upholds Community Radio’s Codes of Practice.

The position reports to the Management Committee of Radio Margaret River Inc.

Key Responsibilities:

The Station Manager is responsible for:

  • The day to day operations of the Station.
  • Managing volunteers and contractors.
  • Raising revenue to ensure the financial stability of the station.
  • Building relationships with potential stakeholders.

Key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Duties and Responsibilities:

To gain an understanding of internet radio and community radio and RMR’s place in the industry.

Ensure that the station output complies with policy guidelines agreed with RMR and with any relevant copyright and licensing rules.

To develop and implement strategic planning in order to reach revenue targets.

To create and foster community and business relationships to achieve sponsorship requirements.

To develop and maintain administrative, technical and management systems as required.

To oversee day to day expenditure in line with agreed budgets.

To recruit other staff as required.

To search for suitable grants, prepare applications, and acquit successful grant funding.

To learn the technical aspects of the computers and radio equipment.

Oversee development and delivery of all communications, marketing and publicity materials (including, for example, member communications, media materials and marketing collateral).

To be the main spokesperson, representing RMR within the community, when required.

Other duties as required.

Desired skills and knowledge:

Sound accounting, financial control and reporting skills.

Experience working with Not-For-Profits and or volunteer organisations.

Good knowledge of radio production techniques and equipment.

The ability to work co-operatively with and motivate and lead other members of the team.

An in-depth knowledge of the community.

The ability to set up and maintain efficient administrative systems.

The ability to write and communicate succinctly and clearly.

An understanding of the principles of legislative policies such as equal opportunity, occupational health and safety.
