The Soupie Needs Pots!

The Community Centre’s Soup Kitchen is in need of a couple of 25 litre commercial grade pots. If you have any that you could donate, please contact the Community Centre.

And on that note, if you’re after a delicious vegan curry, the Soupie’s open from 5 til 6 on Mondays and Wednesdays for takeaways only – still no mingling or dining on site, or BYO containers due to COVID restrictions.

For Nature

Nature Conservation Margaret River Region this week launched its ‘For Nature Landowner Stewardship Program’. ‘For Nature’ aims to inspire and educate local residents on practical ways to boost the conservation value of your garden, property and surrounding bushland – from knowing which species to plant to how to control weeds, attract native animals and improve biodiversity.

As part of the exciting new initiative, Nature Conservation will hold a series of hands-on workshops, garden tours and field trips throughout 2021 and beyond to connect people and share knowledge and resources.

Residents who sign up to the program will also receive free advice from experts and a free equipment loan service to make conservation action a whole lot easier. And you may be eligible for cost-share incentives to carry out on-ground work including weed control or revegetation if your property falls within a high priority conservation zone.

The ‘For Nature Landowner Stewardship Program’ is proudly supported by funding from the West Australian Government’s State Natural Resources Management Program, the Water Corporation and the Shire of Augusta Margaret River.

The River Angels needs volunteers

River Angels has been helping locals experiencing greater need in the face of a cancer diagnosis since 2011. Whether you have lived experience, care for, or have lost someone to cancer, Linda and her team of vollies will be there if you need.

Currently there is an urgent need for more vollies to assist with a Mother who has just lost her daughter to cancer. Her yard is unmanageable as her mobility is compromised.

A regular project for River Angels is to cook for individuals and families who simply can’t do it themselves due to illness. There are currently 12 families in need in town.

Please contact Lynda at River Angels if you have any time to spare and would like to get involved in any of the River Angels projects.
